Tech Troubles.

Post by Kaya »

i just took psychic damage from something that happened today.
WOW. the internet provider.
>upgrade backend.
>requires new modem.

contacts a business client.
guy goes out to set it up.
somehow... SOMEHOW. the guy went through and set a lot of pc's including the printer, all on their own... mac bonded. public addresses.
database, quickbooks, etc, all has their own personal WAN address....
nothing locally worked.
one pc had a whole C address range... a whole 255 addresses assigned to one pc's mac address....
All the pc's were set to private network and had relaxed firewall settings because the network they were on was locked down to just having local business machines only. most systems were static ip'd.
and now thy all had a spread of public, typically WAN associated addresses. some in the 80.x.x.x,
a printer was given a 69.x.x.x. one whole class C, x.x.x.1-254 was assigned to a single pc... just. why?

SO WITH THAT, i present this topic as a place to put any and all of your tech wft moments.
just a few kobolds in a trench coat.
pretending to not be a few kobolds in a trench coat.
